About the Client
Our Client is a boutique consulting firm, founded by Chartered Accountants.
We are looking for a hands-on manager to lead accounting and management of compliance for SME
sector clients. We are looking for someone with good experience in core (Indian clients) accounting and
exposure to direct and indirect taxation. Our Client offers Hybrid Working.
Job Responsibilities
Job Description
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing the client’s accounting operations, ensuring
accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, regulatory compliance, and effective team
leadership.
Accounting, finance and compliance responsibilities
1. Review of accounting and book-keeping function for the clients assigned to you, including
recurring compliances and year-end finalisation
2. Ensure that the assigned clients meet their fiscal and statutory filing as per requirements of
applicable laws and deadlines.
3. Manage statutory audits, internal / donor / other audits, and coordination with external
auditors
4. Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and tax requirements (GST, TDS, income tax,
etc., as applicable)
5. Establish and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies
6. Monitor changes in accounting regulations and ensure timely implementation
7. Actively supporting in client handover and onboarding
8. Establish an environment of continuous improvement and eliminate administrative non
value-added tasks.
9. Customer and inter-team liaison
10. Acquiring and implementing working knowledge of company secretarial compliances, payroll
and local taxes
Team responsibilities
1. Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team
2. Allocate work, set performance goals, and monitor performance
3. Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement
4. Drive automation and efficiency improvements in accounting processes
5. Managing reporting, planning, tracking and other administrative tasks as required.
Other responsibilities
1. Support in adhoc projects
2. Participate in system implementations or upgrades as required
Skills/Experience
This Is What We’re Looking For
Minimum 5-10 years of work experience in a relevant role, including a mix of public accounting
and private industry experience, preferably in the social sector.
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with a focus in Accounting or Finance is highly
preferred.
Experience in core accounting (Indian laws) along with working knowledge of direct and indirect
taxation
Ability to take responsibility for business-critical financial operations
Proven ability to communicate and collaborate with a team.
Strong Indian GAAP and accounting experience, experience in preparing reports
Solid project management and organization skills with an ability to plan and perform multiple
tasks.
Excellent written and oral communication with the ability to influence and drive sound business
decisions.
